Macduff Aquarium

Britain’s most northerly aquarium featuring the sea life of the Moray Firth.
As well as seeing hundreds of fishy characters, new for 2007 is a live camera link to the Troup Head’s colony of rare gannets, allowing you to see right into the nests.


Banff is the starting point of the Castle Trail with the magnificent Duff House, the trail features 11 of the most interesting castles and fortified houses in the region. Many have coffee shops and nice walks.


The Whisky Trail is on our doorstep. All eight distilleries are within easy driving distance. They offer whisky tastings, tours, coffee and gift shops.


The quiet roads provide many interesting routes. The area is part of Sustrans, the national cycle network, with several sections designed as “traffic free”


The whale and dolphin visitor centre at Spey Bay, or a trip to see the rare gannets at Troup Head, the area is a treasure trove for nature lovers with dolphins and whales at sea, and deer, red squirrels and foxes in our woodlands, and otters in our rivers.

Art & Culture

Duff House in Banff is the focus for Arts and Culture in the area.
The coast is home to many artists, potters and craftsmen where galleries and workshops are often open to the public.


This is gods country with stunning rivers, lochs and ponds.
The finest salmon fishing is available locally on the River Deveron, The Dee is 1hr away, The Spey 20 minutes, The Findhorn is 1hr 15mins and for the trout ponds, many are available locally, or try sea fishing on board the Puffin from Macduff


This is golfers’ heaven. Duff House Royal borders the conservation area, Murcar, Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen, the list could go on and on.

Fantastic course for all abilities and the excellent Myrus Driving Range at Macduff with its spacious driving bays.


Shooting packages can be arranged, whether it be low ground shooting or deer stalking.


There are lots of easy walks in the local area, whether it be woodland, coastal or hill walking.

You can join the Coastal Trail at many points, passing memorable beaches and coves such as Hell’s Lum at Cullykhan Bay, where it is said that the voices of 1,000 dead sailors can be heard.

Water Based Activities

Dolphin or whale watching and fishing trips on the Puffin are a must, a local boat that sails from Macduff Harbour.

Water skiing, jet bikes, surfing and wind surfing are a few of the water based activities available locally.
